The current Accident Compensation Legislation provides statutory coverage for a more restricted range of circumstances than existed under the previous Act and an "accident" is deemed to occur only in potentially more narrow circumstances.

The coverage extends to include the costs of defence and awards made by employees for injuries falling outside of the scope of the Act.
